București

The ARAC Bucharest residency, initiated in 2015, is located on the upper floor of Anca Poterașu Gallery and is rooted in the city’s cultural ecosystem. Situated above the gallery, the residency allows invited artists to connect with ARAC’s long-term partners, curatorial networks and institutional collaborators. Residents benefit from curatorial support and may choose to share their research with the public through open studios, presentations or informal encounters.

Săcel, Maramureș

The residency in the village Săcel, Maramureș, is developed through close collaboration with the local community. Residents are accommodated either with local families or in guesthouses with which ARAC has long-term partnerships, allowing participants to experience everyday life and the rhythms of the region more directly.

The program offers working spaces, curatorial and logistical support, as well as access to local networks, artisans, landscapes and cultural infrastructures. Beyond production and research, the residency emphasizes integration within the local context and encourages exchanges with the community and surrounding area through informal encounters, walks, visits, shared meals and conversations with the local community.
